Established in 1999, Cricket Communications Inc., otherwise known as Cricket Wireless, is part MNO and part MVNO that provides prepaid cellular services across the United States. A subsidiary of Leap Wireless, Cricket Wireless is considered one of the largest wireless telecommunications networks in the country, next to AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint Nextel.

With the cellular network’s 5-year agreement with Sprint, Cricket Wireless now uses the Sprint’s 3G network across the country to deliver a wider coverage for Cricket prepaid subscribers. Today, Cricket customers already enjoy seamless 3G data transfers nationwide.

Because Cricket Wireless offers prepaid services, customers are no longer required to sign-up for lengthy contracts or have to pay for unpredictable monthly bills. Thus, Cricket subscribers are assured nationwide mobile services that are downright simple and controllable with daily or unlimited monthly prepaid plans.

Unlike other prepaid networks, Cricket Wireless puts more emphasis on the calling needs of customers by offering prepaid plans with unlimited airtime—even calls made to mobile users on other networks. And with no activation fees or pre-termination fees, Cricket prepaid plans are indeed worth every subscriber’s penny.

Although some calling features need to be purchased as separate add-ons, Cricket PAYGo unlimited plans are still the mobile network’s strongest selling points.

Cricket PAYGo Basic

Priced at $1 per day, Cricket PAYGo Basic Plan allows subscribers to enjoy unlimited airtime the entire day as long as calls are made within the local Cricket network. Incoming text and picture messages also come at no extra charge, but picture messages, local text, and international text sent cost $0.10 per message.

Mobile web costs $0.25 extra, and calls to 411 cost $1 per call. However, US Long distance is not unlimited with PAYGo Basic, in which per minute of airtime costs $0.10. Also, unlike Cricket Wireless’ higher plans, the Cricket PAYGo Basic plan is only applicable within the local coverage area.

Cricket PAYGo More

With Cricket PAYGo More, one gets unlimited airtime, US long distance, both incoming and outgoing text or MMS, and international text—all for only $2 per day of use. Mobile web costs an extra $0.25 per day, and dialing 411 costs $1 per call.

Cricket PAYGo All

For frequent Cricket prepaid users, the $3 per day Cricket PAYGo All Plan may be the ultimate option with its all-in unlimited package, which includes unlimited airtime, US Long Distance, incoming and outgoing text and MMS, international text, mobile web, and calls to 411.

All Cricket PAYGo Plans charge $0.25 per minute of calls while roaming. However, calling features such as voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, and 3-way calling are already included in all plans.

Cricket PAYGo Prepaid Refills

Although Cricket prepaid top-ups may be purchased from retail stores, one may also conveniently use his or her credit card, debit card, or Paypal account to purchase Cricket PAYGo refills on Babblebug.com.

Cricket PAYGo plans offer unlimited calling to anyone on any network. Cricket customers are only charged the per-day amount once they start placing calls, sending text messages, answering calls, and browsing the web. Cricket PAYGo subscribers can also change their PAYGo plans by calling *PAY (729) from their mobile phone.

Monthly Plans

While many Cricket PAYGo users find the daily plans cost-effective, other subscribers, particularly those with irregular usage patterns may find the Cricket Monthly plans more appealing.

Unlimited $35 Plan

Starting at $35, one enjoys 30 days of unlimited anytime minutes, U.S. long distance, and text messaging. Voicemail and caller ID is also included in this monthly plan, but one must purchase 3-way calling and call waiting features as add-ons. Also, mobile web, mobile email, picture and video messaging, and international text may be added to the plan as separate add-ons.

Unlimited $45 plan

With Cricket Unlimited $45 plan, one takes full advantage of the network’s prepaid services, which includes unlimited airtime, U.S. long distance, local and international text, picture messaging, and mobile web. Calling features such as call-waiting, caller ID, call forwarding, and 3-way calling are already included in the prepaid plan.

Other Unlimited Plan Add-Ons

Just like the Cricket PAYGo plans, nationwide roaming minutes must be purchased as a separate add-on. Subscribers may also add mobile email, mobile video entertainment, and unlimited international text messaging features depending on their Cricket Wireless plan.
